Greeting from southern West Virginia. Not much to say but I have been smoking for the last 5 to 7yrs. I only get to do this on the weekends because of work. I use a water smoker and a propane verticle smoker. Don't hate me for using propane. The weather is breaking and I have the itch again to fire it up. I used to belong to another group that there discussions were held via email until they shut down but I am looking forward to doing this. Just wanted to say hi.

Welcome to the forum!!
Are you near the Greenbrier Resort?
Steven Raichlen holds his "Barbecue University" classes there.
He just added a Big Drum Smoker to his arsenal for the class to use.
Looking forward to his new book "Raichlen On Ribs", coming out in a week or so.
Do you have alot of hickory wood growing in your area?
I hear the mountains of WV are just as beautiful as the mountains here in western NC. _________________ Rocky Richmond - Big Drum Smokers

About 3hrs from the Greenbier resort. Not real familiar with a drum smoker. Don't guess I am a true 'smoker'. Right now the hills are turning green. Most of my wood I buy in chunk form from Wal Mart is mesquite and hickory. Every once in a while I get some apple wood. I also use Jack Daniels whiskey barrels made from oak. When you open the bag all you can smell is "Jack" . _________________ The beatings will continue until morale improves! |
