So did a turkey back on the 4th and came out really good.
Used apples, fresh from the garden purple sage and rosemary, stuffed all of this under the skin. Used a little olive oil on the skin with some maccormick chicken rub. Have this tube thing which is like the beer can chicken which filled with ciniaman sticks and apple cider. Sprayed the turkey about every 45 minutes with apple cider. It came out moist and juice.
Also just a big thanks to everyone! I have so much fun building my smoker and smoking food. The information and the kindness of everyone is just outstanding!! _________________ can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning! |

Thanks guys this was my first one. I will be doing many more and trying different combos of spices and such. It looks like a smoked turkey for thanksgiving will be a given this year. _________________ can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning! |

Thanks Tom, The bird was about 14lbs. It was on for 6 hours however I did cook to internal temp of 165-170. Cooked at temp of 225 and yes the harpoons go very good with the bird. _________________ can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning! |
