just got all my parts for the smokey joe 14" smoker mod. what height does everyone usually put there cooking racks at?

Oh yeah probably huh....... bought the smokey joe and imusa stoock pot to make it into a smoker. Jus don't know how high to put my cooking rack

Looks like he's about 2" up for the bolts to hold the plant plate in the bottom, and maybe 4" down from the top to the first set of bolts, perhaps 7.5" down to the lower bolts he doesn't seem to be using.

Just a guesstimate from the pictures!

I don't remember my numbers, but I think my upper grate location is about 3" down from the top and then another 3" down to my next location. The lower bolts that hold the terra cotta dish are just above the bend in the metal about a 1/2".

This shows the upper position well:

Just an observation on life.

If you put 3 evenly spaced bolts a little thicker for the bottom rack, you can often get the grate past the top bolts...if you build them with 4 bolts and the spaces are tight, you can't get the grate past the top bolts!

Just what I've found myself on some things! Wink Laughing Wink
