I'll try to keep this brief. I go to my brother's house for Memorial Day and that Sunday we plan a BBQ. He told me his wife's godfather would be coming and that he's this great BBQer and he'll bring the ribs for the day. I bought a 22.5" Weber kettle and like the pro you guys have made me I have my grill schedule planned for the day. So when my first batch of chicken is coming off he shows up. I let him know that the rest of my food can wait until he finishes his ribs. When he sees my indirect set up he asks "my man, why do you use only half of the grill"? I state, "I just have an indirect set up going for my chicken with a little hickory for smoke. Why, something wrong?" "Well one of us doesn't know what he's doing 'cause I've been grilling for years and I always BOIL my food before I put it on the grill. See, I put charcoal all over the grill and then put foil on the top so I can use the whole grill at the same time!" "Really?" I say. "Well I guess we all have different techniques". Needless to say NO ONE touched his food and I had to rush to get some of my own before HE and everyone killed it. I didn't gloat though, I swear...

'blowing smoke' has a point. I think I'll tell my 7 year old daughter to never trust a man who boils his ribs. Proper BBQ indoctrination can never start too early I say.
