|
|
If this has been discussed before please let me know. I haven't used my Chargriller in awhile and the grates have a fair amount of rust on them. Anyone have any suggestions of things that can be used along with elbow grease to get them back to normal? Thanks in advance. _________________ Chargriller Smokin' Pro |

This is the same thing I do after every cook. Pass the food off to my wife, a quick scrub of the grates and hit them with some Pam cooking spray and we are ready for next time. |

| You can soak them in some plain white vingar (acetic acid) for several minutes, after you brush the heavy stuff off. That should break down the rust and leave almost completly bare iron. Rinse. Make a baking soda paste and apply it to the iron for a couple minutes, to neutralize the acid. Then rinse that off with water , dry and season the grates. You could probaly do the whole thing on a cookie sheet or other shallow pan and use the wire brush to apply the baking soda. |

| Or you can get some oven cleaner(lye AKA sodium hydroxide) in a plastic bag overnight. And blaa blaa blaa and youl have clean grates. |

| I like to use a wire wheel on a drill or on a grinder. |
