| i am so glad that i found this site all of you on here are great just acouple of questions where do you find parts for your smoker and any advice would be great what i have is a 500 gallon tank and going to have a fire box on one end 2x2 and a rib box on the other end 2x4 and and going to have deflection plates on the bottom so no hot spots what i need is really good temp gauges and handles allso what are your thoughts on counter weights i will be posting some pictures soon thank you every one |

85swbbig, I look forward to following your cooker build. As far as thermometers I prefer either Tel-Tru's or Ashcrofts. I think on a tank that size you will probably want counter weights on your doors, either fixed or a pulley system. As far as getting parts for my builds I just keep my eyes and ears open for used steel or what ever I might need. Handles can vary with what ever the builder chooses, I prefer plain steel spring handles they are easy to get and do not get warm, but I have seen twisted bar, wood and a lot of others I like as well. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

85swbbig, I just got these (3" RC BARBECUE GRILL PIT SMOKER THERMOMETER BBQ GAUGE Item# 360153284585 $14.00 USD) Old smokys from and ebay store name of rivercountry101. I looked on Ebay but found them cheaper here. Ebay they where 34.
As far as the stuff I did craigslist. And ask lots of questions on here!

| where do i get these thermometers also any hinges and some dampers got the handles we dont have any kind of bbq place up here so just looking for some help thank you all and will be posting some pics soon |

First 85swbbig please go to your profile and fill in where up here is. As far as hinges. I found it very easy to make them out of pipe and solid rod. Handles I took some rebar and used a torch to heat it about 4 inches,
put and spring that I got from the hardware store and then bent the other side to complete the U shape. Thermometers off the web. Just searched for them and went from there. Here is where I got mine
