Thanks J0K3R-X, the Weber lid is a great idea, hang on to it. If you were a bit closer I would field test that 3200 for ya and maybe save what dark hair I have. Laughing

Thanks Toga, once I get all the prelims done I will let her decide on racks but your right she could have quite a few in there for sure. Very Happy

K.A.M. - Man, how do you find the time for so many projects? I have 2 tanks sitting in my back yard since Feb and haven't even had time to get them off my trailer Mad

Anyhow, it's looking good! Look forward to seeing it complete. Very Happy

Thanks Chuck, I am in weekend mode. My day job has been pretty hectic so when I get home I have not been going to the shop much. I mentioned red to Mrs K.A.M. the other day and she said its not built yet I have time. Shocked Laughing

That's looking really good so far! Great idea with using the 2nd barrel as a lid. Can't wait to see the finished product. This will probably have multiple racks I'm guessing?

Thanks jeepdad, I believe she wants to cook on it for fathers day but no menu as of yet, and thanks I hope to be fishing before long Smile

Thanks morick, the extended lid is one thing I wanted for birds mainly. I just hope I can keep the weight down so she can manage it, and thanks as well I need to put the boat in the water and I think Mrs.K.A.M. would agree. Smile

Thanks ShahBQ, I am hoping for at least enough room for three racks if need be, but two will be the norm probably.

I'm very lucky I have one of the best trout streams around less than a quarter mile away so While working on projects and I need a break I grab the rod(fishing) and head down there. Sometimes 4 to 5 times a day or more. Here's my latest catch (tiger trout). Sorry not trying to steal your thread k.a.m. Oh yeah hurry up and finish I'm very interested in the final build and color.

I got a bit more done this weekend, Mrs.K.A.M. decided she did not want a shelf so that simplified things a bit. I built the charcoal grate, built four intake vents, put the exhaust on the lid, added an inspection door so she can play with her coals, and mounted the casters and all the handles. I need to pick up the grates and hardware for them and also install the thermometer sleeves I built.
Here she is all put together.

I built the inspection door out of stainless sheet metal.

I built four 1'' adjustable vents.

Here is the charcoal grate, it is 17'' in diam. and 6'' deep, it sets 3'' off the bottom. The bottom is two weber charcoal grates perpendicular to each other.

I drilled out these 1/2'' bolts and they will be welded under the grates to hold her thermometers in place.
