|
|
Hi All,
Warning--->Newbie here.
I am getting ready to do my first comp at the end of July, and so I need a team name.
I am a firefighter, and some of my FF buddies are helping out.
So I wanted to name my team "Smoke Eaters BBQ"
However, I just discovered that there is another team (also a group of FFs) using that name.
I am in California and they are in Indiana.
Is it taboo to use a team name that is already used?
Thanks

Personally you're better off with an individual team name!
Technically I'm sure there's nothing wrong with copying another teams name, other than the confusion in everyone's mind about which team is which, when looking at the results on forums and the KCBS website.
If you are all from Temecula fire department, why not call it the Temecula Smoke Eaters BBQ, or the SoCal Smoke Eaters BBQ, just do something to differentiate your team from theirs... like an individual team name! _________________ Here's a change Robert.

Thanks for the reply.
I was not trying to copy there name, I found it after I selected ours.
I like "SoCal Smoke Eaters BBQ", I think we can tweak it for that.
Other suggestions/comments?
Thanks again all

You can try .....
FIRE EATERS BBQ
Smoking Qrew or Crew
Ladder & Hoses BBQ
Snots & Fire BBQ
Pork on Fire
SoCal FD BBQ
or do a spin on something where you ad Pork or an acronim to the FD like...C.P.F.D..(Cali. Pork\Pig Fire Dept.) _________________ "Wife says i'm a smokin\bbq addict & always smelling like smoke & that I should bottle it as cologone & make money..lol"

Hi Zilla,
Do you meant totally different from another team, or totally different from the FD connection?
I would really like to stick with the FD connection as I am very proud of what we do.
Thanks again for all the feedback.

Pete, People travel to compete. Yes it is wrong to use someone elses name. Hence the reason all stores are not called Walmart. _________________ He who laughs last, thinks slowest

Hi All,
I think I have it nailed down to two different options, please let me know what you all think.
-Blaze'n Q Competition Cooking Team, with a tagline of "Out of Control BBQ"
-"Class A BBQ" Competition Cooking Team
The Class A refers to the classification of common combustable materials.
I am still open to any other suggestions, but need to make a decision by Friday.
Thanks all.

Hi All,
Ok, well I have decided on a name for our team.
"Cooks-N-Ladders BBQ Team"
Thanks Zilla for the suggestion.
I made Cooks plural, not sure why but did.
Thanks again everyone.
Rick is working on a logo for me now.
Take care
