Just a heads up on a issue, maybe a well known issue but to me was news.
I purchased a new Brinkmann SNP model #810-3038-s from home depot last week, my father last year purchased the same unit * so i thought* and i was impressed with it for the price as im really not trying to lay down serious cash yet for a cooker so this one seemed to be the best for the buck and most accessible to get my hands on.
I get it home build it up and take notice that their are 2 slight variations between what i have and what he has. They are the placement of the Brinkmann name plate and the Temperature probes, while his just has words that say "ideal" or" too hot" and mine has numbers. So i figure no big deal slight variations that actually for the most part seemed better until i start to also notice that this thing is now built and it feels way lighter than what my father owns.
The next day after brinkmann never called me back to answer my question i do some investigation work of my own and i see that their is a product model number #810-3041-w and it looks identical to what me and my father have *again so i think*, i take notice to the box weight on the item and it is 102 lbs and i check my box for model # 810-3038-s and it is 73 pounds. So it went on the south beach diet......
i happen to score one of the older models from a walmart cause you know they always got crap sitting in the corners from 5 years ago.Built it up before i returned the one i originally purchased from home depot to do a side by side. All my suspicions where correct that with the cool new name plate and fancy new dial temp probe they also decided to give the consumer thinner metal for the cooking chamber construction, how nice of them right. and they charge the same amount.
So just a heads up to anyone checking out these brinkmann Smoke N Pit's model #810-3038-s. Try to find the older model or find something else, If i was not lucky enough to find an older model like i did i would have returned what i bought originally and just stuck with my Weber. its that bad |
