ol yea both doors are cut left about 1 1/2 inchs on all corners and in the middle to help prevent warp. but it only took a couple of hours and 2 blades per door. not too bad for not having a torch at hand...

hillbily75, you can cut your doors all the way out. Then tack four lugs on each door to hold the door in place on the cooking chamber. weld on your top strap, once that is in place align your 1/2'' pipe on the cooking chamber and weld out then apply the 1/2'' rod and heat and bend over the top strap.
You can see one of the lugs on the door in this pic.

This pic shows how I bent them over the strap. My hinges are two piece, a left and right piece.

hillbily75, I have never had one wear out. When you think about it a cooker door doesn't get much use. Smile

Just wanted to ask if it will be galvinized pipe. I made the mistake of cutting the pipe with a angle grinder and welding it with my arc. Although im happy with the result I had to take the next day off from work bc i was throwing up. Im not sure if that is normal from Galvanized but i was told it happens often so I reccomend using a respirator. By the way the pipe works fine...good luck on your build Very Happy

Yep, that is what happens when you weld galvanized metal. Somethings you can do is, remove the galvanize with muriatic acid in the areas to be welded, grind the galvanize off but wear a mask, and lastly don't use it.

On larger pieces it is kind of hard to dip in muriatic acid but I do it with smaller pipes in the 1/2-4 inch range. I have brushed it on bigger stuff also.

If you have to do it drink milk right after....
