Since I picked up this pig while in route to Texas last month, I have been packing it around on my smoker trailer. I take it off and place it at the end of our serving table for laughs, kids to climb on, pictures...etc
This is where I was carrying it on the smoker..
Well today.... I was hauling down interstate 5 with smoker in tow at track speed (70) and a big semi truck moved up on my right (I was in middle lane) blowing his horn like crazy... We thought he was just saying he liked our rig (or something simlar.. ) but he wouldn't back off so my wife rolled the window down and he was yelling at the top of his lungs... YOUR PIG FELL OFF YOUR TRAILER!!!
l looked in the mirror and to my surprise, NO PIG!!! Then my cell phone started ringing (5 calls) telling me the same thing (my number is on my truck)..
I took the very next exit and flipped over the overpass and back onto the freeway going back.... pushing my old '99 Ford Diesel as hard as it would go..
I passed the scene of the "pig fall" and there was a pick up and car at the scene so I blared the horn...to no avail..
I got off the freeway just past it and flipped back over the the overpass again and got back on the freeway going the right direction...finally..
I get up to the scene just in time to see the car (an OLD Datsun (before Nissan) 2 door car) pulling away but I could not tell if the pig was still along the freeway or not...
I get up to the scene of the "pig fall"..... and NO PIG!!!
So at this point, I REALLY put the petal to the metal to try and catch the little car... He took the first exit and by this time I was right on his butt..
BUT...he flipped around and got into the lane going back ONTO the freeway!!
So the only thing I could do at this point was YELL at him....I WANT MY F***IN PIG!!
Low and behold he flipped back around and came in behind me and when he got out he said...."I wasn't really trying to steal it"
Shoot, I was just trying to figure out how in the hell he got that big ol' thing in the back seat of his car....it took him the better part of 10 min to get it out...
Anyway, I got it back with no problem and aside from some cracks, a couple of missing feet, missing tail, and a chip out of his ear....well here are the pictures...
Now I just need to find someone that can do some custom fiberglass repair.. |

Can you repair it or is it time for a new pig?
Was it not secured on the trailer in some fashion? _________________

Great story Marv!
You are one lucky man that it didn't hit anyone's car, or God forbid someone riding a real Hog (Harley).
That thing bouncing down the road at 70 MPH would ruin your insurance premiums for some time to come.
You should be able to do the repairs (and paint) yourself. Stop by a local marine supplies shop and just buy the glass and resin.
Be a nice little project to keep you busy on a rainy day! _________________ BBQMAN

Well I am not going to try and repair it but am going to seek someone who can.
I went online looking for a new one like it but could not find one. If ANYONE knows where to get one....PLEASE let me know.

I found it a a "Trading Post" along I-40 in New Mexico.
This one was listed @ $799.00 and I asked if I could "make an offer"..I got it for $500.00 |

Ah..a little bondo putty & some fiberglas window screen will fix the ol' pig up.Maybe some 'crafty' neighborhood pal could build him a set of wings _________________ This stuff ain't rocket science,,,Great Gramma cooked on a horizontal-partitioned wood smoker every day! |
