There's a Golden Coral near me, that seems to be slammed everytime I drive by since the economy tanked.

Are others seeing this general trend with AYCE buffets in your area?

We have a Sirloin Stockade here and it stays busy, weekdays, not sure about weekends. We have two Chinese and one Korea buffet and they are busy all the time.

Other chains we have: Although not an AYCE Chili’s here is always busy, amazes me. Applebee’s is kind of a hit and miss. We’re not fans of chains. Skillet’s is busy in the mornings, slow at lunch – not sure at night.

We have a great deal of independents, mainly Mexican café’s that open at 6am and close at 2pm (each has a little different flavor profile). They all seem to stay busy. We have two independent steak houses, open mainly late afternoon/night – they stay busy. We also have a high dollar restaurant down town, that is kind of slow, plus an Italian place that is really good (stays busy), plus two independent BBQ places – they do fairly well, and a chain called Rudy’s – ugh, we don’t think they will make it.

Our population is less than 34k, but gosh we have plenty of places to eat, except seafood!

Across from us is Acuna, MX, with some excellent restaurants, but they’re business is off by 70% to 85% due to negative MX news.

The one we have is up in Clearwater, and they do stay fairly busy.

Not a bad meal for around $10.00.

Most raunts (even the "busy" ones) are way off in sales this year across the board...........................with the exception being fast food.

McDogshizzle is up almost 7%, go figure!

A Golden Coral opened just up the road from me and it is packed 7 days a week. I tried it and stuck with the salad because I wasn't impressed at all. Hear people all the time talking about how great it is. Guess they feel they are getting a deal with the all you can eat.
