My wife just bought a Char Grill Smoker Pro and told me to go grill.
I have no idea what I'm doing.
What is that little box on the side for?
How do I control the heat in my grill?
Im used to cooking Spamburgers out of a frying pan, and now Im supposed to be Emeril.
I am following the tips laid out in the forum, but i fear a BBQ debacle is coming. This weekend is Chicken-a-la-djhead. Will post pics. _________________ I'm hungry |

Welcome aboard. Might want to ask the wife exactly what she wants you to make for her. There's a big difference between grilling and barbecuing. The unit you have is suited for barbecuing. If all she wants is grilled steaks, chicken breasts and kabobs, then you got a fine gift my friend. You see, that unit can still grill, you just load up the main cooking chamber with coals and don't use the side firebox and looky there, big old grill. Then, when you feel like some real BBQ ribs someday, you can use it the way it was meant to be used and surprise her with your man-o-fire prowess! _________________ --Chris Baker

The grill should have come with some basic instrutions. Read those, then peruse through prior posts or search for your grill in this forum and see what pops up.
Get a thermometer and get a grilling book. Paul Kirk's "championship BBQ" is a great beginner book.
Good luck! _________________ "BBQ may not be a religion in Texas, but the two institutions are closely associated."
