Hi All-

I might be in NC over that weekend and trying to figure out a way to do the contest. We compete in the KC area. It'd be really cool to experience a competition in another region. My mind is already spinning on what we would need to do differently in regards to sauces! Very Happy

Well looks like will have a good showing from the guys from the ring!

I have a small problem that I would like some ideas, the Tailgate Challenge/Amateur Competition does not supply power for the comp. and at the time I emailed them they were not allowing generators either! I explained to her that I would pay extra for a power hook up for my lights but she said that they would rethink the power problem and get back to me.
I don't want to go out and buy a bunch of lanterns and that would suck having to start cooking in the dark. So anyone have any ideas or tricks they have used at other comps!

Yeah, give the team next you a few beers and ask them if you can plug into their outlet. Smile

If we're close enough to you, just stop by and ask.

go to meritline.com and look at there selection of battery powered led lights. i use several of them with my set up along with sets of clear led christmas lights that you could hook up to a small car battery and inverter and it would run all night. the competition is in downtown so i would also imagine that they will have street lights for extra light.

I just saw that they have 43 teams signed up. Looks like they may be close to the max of 50 by the time the contest arrives. Wow!

Just curious, is that number the combined b/t tailgate and pro?

Hi uncfan2457,
We will be there again this year. We have competed in the Tailgate Challenge for the last 3 years. The past two years they have had all of the Tailgate teams on the west side of the Citizens Center. Depending where your site is you may need up to 150' of hose to run water. There is some light from a street light and a light on the side of the Citizens Center, but it is not much. There are no power hookups close by. You will be in direct sunlight from noon until very late afternoon. It was very hot last year. Hope it's a lot cooler this year. Good Luck! and come by and see us.

GOOD NEWS TAILGATE TEAMS! Just got a call from Lincolnton today and they are allowing generators this year! So no cooking in the dark!

Carolina Boy's Thanks for the info and if the weather keeps on the same track as today we will all need jackets and ear warmers!

Looks like there will be a great turnout and can't wait to meet up with everyone and hope everyone is ready its 17 more days!

Mike
