Would this work for a charcoal basket?

It's an old veggie basket that I've used numerous times. I'm not sure what kind of metal it's made of but it's been over a gas flame many a time.

I've got an incredible expanded steel basket that I ordered from Horizon but it doesn't fit in my SFB. :idiot:

So until I figure out how to expand the opening in my SFB or resize the expanded steel, I'm trying to figure out an alternative.

I use one in my CG & ended up drilling all the holes bigger. I was getting to much ash build up & would have to open the fire box to shake the basket. After drilling it works good.

What size/type of drill bit did you drill it out with?

Drilled out all the holes with a 3/8" bit & about every other hole on the bottom with a 1/2" bit.
