Hey Smoke Ringers,
Who remembers what brought you here to the Ring... I remember searching for a Smoker build I wanted to do... Never did it but have been tied and true to The Ring since...
The great willingness to share, fantastic recipies and awesome pics have kept me here reading and trying to contribute as I could...
Whats your story what brought you... and kept you here? _________________ In GOD We Trust... GOD Bless AMERICA

I was looking for bbq pictures for a power point presentation for my computer class at culinary school. I kept looking though the forum to kill time during class through out the next couple of weeks and got hooked. _________________ Kids call me paycheck, 'cause i'm so money.

A couple of years ago, my next door neighbor moved and left his Char-Broil Silver behind. After about 2 weeks it was still there, so I decided to put it in my backyard (per my wife). MAN, she has great instincts, because the landlord (of the property next door) had a clean-up guy come by later on the same day! Got to use it a few times, and started looking for BBQ forums, and this seemed to be the friendliest that I could find. _________________ "The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits" - Albert Einstein |

been doing BQQ on my own for 8 years, got good, not great then did a Google search. Found it, loved it, still here, and my BBQ improved 110% since then.
And thank the Smoke ring every day _________________ “Franken Smoker”

I did a search for BBQ forums and joined everyone that I could find. The Smoke Ring was one of the four that I've kept up with. _________________ Zilla

| I was researching cookers and came across the ring, I put the page in my favorites and actually forgot about it for about three months, I have several welding sights that I belong to but I got tired of all the my rod is bigger than your rod B.S. I love the ring, very versatile group we have here and always willing to share, not really any reason to go anywhere else. |

Honestly cant remember how I found the Smokering.. I know I was searching for BBQ info and the like back a few years ago. As I recall it was something to do with how to make pulled pork as that was what I was wanting to be able to make at that time.
I am sure glad I found this site. I have met some amazing people both on line and in person from the ring.. Because of the info and help that the ring affords I was able to live a dream and form some of my greatest memories. Spending a weekend with Allsmokenofire and Sa-mokin down in Lynchburg.. Nothing like sharing a bottle of Woodford Reserve with Mike at 2 in the morning while watching the smoke rise from a cooker as Patrick snoozed on in a zero gravity chair wearing a camo coverall.. That weekend was the highlight of my life so far.
Hats off to BBQMAN for taking the time to help me to learn the finer points of how to cook ribs.
To all the good folks here and the info so freely shared enabled me to get there..
Thanks guys.. Indebted forever. _________________ Chargriller Akorn

| I went to a competition a couple years ago or so that was in a local city park. Never knew they had such a thing. Talked to a few people and looked heavily at rigs, and decided I wanted one. I had smoked on a couple older offsets and a ecb, but nothing like what I saw. Did some surfing and found this site. Now 4 wsm's and a "small" project in the works, I live to read stuff on this site, even though I do not post as much as some, I am on here quite a bit. Great learning from others from all over the nation as well as the world how they cook. |

Doing a search on BBQ recipe and methods and found this place. Lurked around and in for over a year, then my family bought me a big ol offset for my 50th Birthday. I've been a member ever since.

I was out looking for info on building a smoker. Still planning, got the tank and stove for box will be starting soon. Any how found the ring! Now spend way too much time reading and laughing at the stuff on here. I have had personal experience here of the kindness and loving outreach from people I have never met. I know my daughter has never forgotten and mentions quit often. Thanks to all!

I wanted to build a pit and did some searches and found the site. What kept me coming back were the helpful people like Tom C, K.A.M. and many others from having to make it twice. _________________ First Build[/url]

I found it by accident over 10 years afo while looking for information on how to do an underground cook for a whole pig, and found it again 3 years ago as I was putting together the business plan for our catering business. I've been a junkie since! _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

I found the ring thru it's sister (at the time) site Ring Of Fire.
Wish I had found it before I started my own business but that was 4 years previous.
Like the other's, I've been hooked ever since.
Great info for newbies and oldies alike, I learn a lot here.
Great mix of people with a wealth of knowledge on most any topic, and made some great friends along the way as well. _________________ BBQMAN

I had been cooking for a few year and searched for more information on the pink ring formed on the meat we smoke. Typed in "smoke ring" and found the main page. Cut, copy & pasted the recipes looked around for smoke ring info and saw the third page tab titled "Forums" hmmm whats this?
After a while i came to realize that you all is stuck with me now. |

That reminds me of how I ran across the forum another time while not looking for it, or anything to do with food.
I was looking for ideas on how to make a "vortex generator" using sound to blow smoke rings, and using the search term "Smoke Ring" it came up in my search.
the same plans for a votex generator can be used to make a "Stink Gun" so you can aim a foul smell to a targetted area without immediate wide dispersal. this also works along N. Tesla's line of his 'Death-Ray" gun. _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |
