Posted: May 02 2009 Post subject: Smoker out of Used Server Racks? |
|
|
All,
We are removing some old server racks from one of our Data Centers. The boss said to pitch them but I am wondering about turning one into a smoker. For the non geeks here is kind of what I am talking about http://cableorganizer.com/computer-cabinets/enclosure-racks-19.htm . The ones I have access to are about 5 foot tall and have an inside of 19" wide by 24" deep.
Would this be possible? I guess I could take the sides and top off and put metal panels up in the inside and then sheet metal the outside and put some kind of insulation between the two. They seem like a great shell to use, hate to just scrape them to the metal yard.
I will post some pics of them next week when I go to the site next time. Thanks for any info you could give me.

Go for it.
That would be awesome. Just make sure you can seal it up. |

| I think the frame is made from aluminum. I was going to put some sheet metal on the inside of the frame. |
