Been doing alot of research on the Ring and got some ideas for my build. (thanks KAM) Bought a 80 gallon compressor tank (new) for a good price and got a woodstove made by a family member a few years ago. Here are some pics of where i stand to date.

Door layout with the two plug holes for my shelf.

Woodstove with flue being removed for a larger oval flue to be added.

Inside of tank with oval flue connected

Tank with woodstove welded together and ready for the stand.

Removed the glass from the side of woodstove and will replace with 1/4" plate. Removed the stand also. Will be reinstalling the fire brick splits when i finish. Will post more pics as i go. Very Happy

The cook chamber is 24" dia. x 44" and the firebox is 20" dia. x 26". It was a lot of work just to get this much done. We cut a 4" pipe in half length wise and added 1/4" steel in between the 2 halves to make the oval flue to connect to the smoke chamber. A lot of cutting and welding. It will all be worth it in the end. Very Happy

Got a little more done recently. Cut back the intake and added a deflector plate and built the stand. Its slow going but it'll be worth it in the end.

Finally finished the firebox. Added plate where glass was and added the air inlet. Made a sliding charcoal/wood box for easy access. Moving on to the smoke chamber next. Very Happy

I like the way you did the firebox my next build I think I'll do it like that.As I was cleaning the ash out of my firebox which is round like yours I was wishing I had designed a better way toclean out the ash.point is I don't know if you have planned for it or thought about it.Just one of those I wish I had.

It's been a long process. Design as we go. A lot of welding cutting off and rewelding and grinding. The tray slides out to end and hooks onto a piece of metal to stop it from falling and can be lifted to remove for ash cleanup.

The inlet was originally 6" round. I had to enlarge it so went with oval instead. The oval makes it easier for the tuning plates inside the smoke chamber.

That's a great start. Where did you get the brand new tank at, an how much did they ding you on it?
