Anyone try their hand at white sauce ala Bob Gibson? There is a recipe in Peace, Love and Cue but it seems a little basic to me and we all know how "honest" some of the Peace, Love, etc recipes are (albeit still an awesome book).

There's a local restaurant here that makes one that seems to have a touch of dill in it. It's amazing. Anyway, anyone try this at some point?

Hot chicken of the smoker dipped in the sauce? The only reason it's not on my front burner is because I forgot.

I haven't tried it in the store. But I have tried the bottled version. And it's wasn't so good.

But there is a local place that has a very good white sauce and I do love it on chicken. It has a good bite with black pepper.

I'll do it eventually. For discussion sake here is the recipe in peace love and cue:

Quote:
1 cup mayonnaise

1 cup apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 1/2 tablespoons cracked black pepper

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, finely ground

1/4 teaspoon cayenne

I've never actually tried this recipe but there's a local restaurant that has a white sauce that's amazing. I get it with everything from wings to taquitos. I think I taste some dill in there.

Now I'm thinking of doing something similar to bob gibson's recipe. I'll probably cut the lemon (why do you need he lemon and vinegar), def. add some fresh garlic and perhaps some dill.

I was just curious to see if anyone had a white sauce recipe they used. I found it strange I'd never heard it discussed here before.

I agree, the bottled stuff has a off taste to me.

I read a recipe once that had horseradish in it as well.

The lemon juice will add some flavour to the sauce.

I've made the sauce from peace love and cue and it lacks something. My wife hates the strong vinegar taste but then again she's weird. My oldest kid called me for the recipe this morn. so she could make it in her culinary class. It needs more zip I thought.

Heres a couple I found with the horseradish in it although it does seem to be the same recipe. Also found some with Worcestershire sauce as well.

A redneck is driving a back road in Alabama when he sees a pickup parked alongside the road with a grill next to it. A sign says "Chicken Breasts and Beer"

"Lord Almighty!" He exclaims. "My three favorite things!"

it's a little sweeter. Great for dipping bite size pieces of chicken in or dunking the whole piece.

2-1/2 cups Mayo
1/3 cup Apple cider vinegar
1 – Tbsp. prepared Horseradish
2 – Tsp. Salt
2 – Tsp. Black Pepper
1 – Tsp. Cayenne Pepper
¼ - cup of Sugar
2 – Tsp Fresh squeezed Lime Juice
2/3 – Cup Apple Juice

Just add alittle extra mayo to thicken and let sit overnight before using so the spices open up. Enjoy
