I got a call Wednesday morning from Ole Hickory to let me know their driver would be leaving that afternoon with my CTO. They had two deliveries to make in South Carolina and mine would be first. I got a call from the driver, Mr. Lynn, Wednesday evening (about 8:30 pm EST). He had just left a dr's appointment in St. Louis and was trying to leave with the pits in tow, but light problems on the trailer were causing him some headache. I called him Thursday morning about 6am to see how things were going. He had been driving all night w/o any sleep. By mid-morning Mr. Lynn called me to let me know he was about 20 miles from Asheville, NC and that he was going to have to tinker with the trailer lights some more. The next time I heard from him he was not far down the road...facing a detour sign. His GPS got him off the interstate and put him in some road construction. We got him back to I26 and headed him south another 10 miles or so. It was probably around 11am when we saw him turn into the neighbor's drive.

What a nice sight.

We got him in around back and it was time to check things out.

The CTO specs said that it was 36" at the narrowest point. My back door was too narrow as it was set up, but was exactly 36" if I took the door (metal storm door) and framing down. To gain a bit more space I also removed one 2x4 from the door jam. I had all this done prior to Mr. Lynn arriving with the pit.

Just under an inch to spare on either side. We went through perfect with neither side touching.

Signing the forms to let Ole Hickory know that YES I got my CTO and that Mr. Lynn did a fine job going over the basics...oh, and that I got my goodie bag with hat, can coozie, meat thermometer, and spices.

I'm gonna get murdered for the final picture. We had been cleaning and painting all morning (like we have every day for the past two weeks...this place was dirty) and my better half was not happy about me catching her "all painted up".

Anyway, my BBQ Elf

DELETED...yep, I got in trouble.

Maybe it won't be long before I take the time to make a thread describing what we've been doing the past couple of weeks. At this time I'm thinking it will be about 2 weeks for us to open. I still have to take delivery of my steam table, and we have to go to NC and move our 4 remaining storage units (not looking forward to that one). Laughing

That's a beautiful sight! Much great Q to come, I'm sure.

I don't suppose you offered to help him unload the rest of the cargo too... LOL.

Jay,

I'm pretty close to Asheville and not far off the interstate, good thing I didn't see that CTO sitting on the side of the road...it might not have made it to Mt. Pleasent!!!

Best of luck and let us know when you get her up and running. I'll try to get down and give your Que a try out.
