Does anyone know of a gasket material that I could use to go in between the firebox and grill? I have a Masterbuilt that is a spittin image as the charbroil that is often talked about on SmokeRing. But in between firebox and grill i am losing alot of the smokey goodness and heat. I have been thinking about a gasket or sealent that I could use to go in between the two but can't think of anything that I feel comfortable using. Any Ideas?

used the same stuff bought it at ace hardware. worked good. you might also try some 1/8th inch thick asbestos rope gasket. you can usually find it at a fireplace store or bbq specialty store

I'm not sure you can find asbestos in anything new anymore. The high-temperature gasket nowadays is braided fiberglass or some other high-tech material. So I wouldn't ask for asbestos gasket or the guy at the fireplace store will freak out...

You could use the gasket kits from any auto part store. Get either the cork cut your own size kit or the roll of black gasket kit. Made for very high temp. use. Both make very good gaskets. I have Used them for many things.
