for those of you in New England.... Local Shaws Supermarkets had whole beef tenderloin marked down from $14.99/lb to $5.99/lb..
Wife got 12 lbs for approx $60 vs about $180. Just cut up and "foodsaved" 7 packs for future eats..
tempted to go get more. _________________ WSMx2, Genesis Silver B, & BabyQ |

If you've got a foodsaver I'd definitely get more. If you get 10 nice fillets from that and use the tail for stew and such.....and people say you can't get a decent $6 steak. Try and get that at a local restaurant. _________________ If there's Smoke, there better be Meat.

| Watch out! We in the Detroit area can get whole tenderloin at Value Center stores for $3.99 they are a little tough but if you have a little hand Jacarder and poke them a few times theywill work fine. |

I have seen whole packer beef tenderloins at Costco regularly for under $6.00/lb. _________________ Visit my cooking blog. |

I was kinda surprised at how few steaks that would be considered "restaurant quality" came from it.. we put about 6 pieces in each foodsave pack, although some of the pieces got small _________________ WSMx2, Genesis Silver B, & BabyQ |

Just picked up 4 of the large halves of prime tenderloin from the fresh market. They had them for 11.99/lb instead of 20 bucks. They've also been cut and sent to the foodsaver.
I can't believe I waited so long to get a dang foodsaver. My freezer is solid red with choice strips and prime filets. Good times ahead. |

A tough tenderloin? I wouldn't brag too much about those sub $4 loins. _________________ Somewhere in Kenya...a village is missing their idiot. |
