Well Folks,
It's been three days since We sent Henry a smoke signal!

No answer...Not even a "Busy" signal!

Now i'm REALLY starting to worry!!!

HVAC said he thought he saw some kind of "mushroom" shaped cloud coming from over that direction.I asked HVAC if he remembered what color the cloud was.

Maybe I should've asked him if it was Glowing, or if the cloud had any sort of noticeable debris revolving around the epicenter...Like a reciprocating saw or maybe the remnants of an Acetylene cutting torch handle...or something;anything!

Hey If ANYBODY hears or sees anything of poor ol' Henry...
Send up a smoke signal,Will 'Ya?

Till then....

Best Regards,Tony

Roxy:
Dude...What's up with the "Shocked" Emoticon?

Surely Ya'll know by now that the Quest 'fer findin' 'Ol Henry
(downhomesmokin') has reached close to Epic proportion!

I ,(Along with some of my esteemed associates here on this Forum,I ain't goin' down alone!) am guilty of gaining excess mileage out of downhomesmokins' somewhat problematic situation on how to properly BUT SAFELY disect a large, previously owned propane tank.
For that,forgive me.(us)

However, Ol' Henry has a sense of humor MUCH larger than most of our egos' and henceforth accepts a laugh WITH us rather than FROM us.

Thanks Hank 'fer being a GREAT sport and sharing with us all here a piece of your "downhomesmokin'" cooker buildin' experience!

We love 'Ya Henry...Ya'll come right back now...hear?

Best Regards,Tony

That would be me if I was to see a tank cutting go bad.

I got to say you will never find me cutting into a propane can. I think a better choice would be the air canisters found under all semi trailers, they look like the perfect diameter and some I have seen are about 4 feet long.

Just a thought... No risk of the big bang either.

Hi Rox!

Yo...Don't lose the demeanor of the text,Man!

Hey,This is Fun stuff and it's meant 'ta be fun, right?

Those canisters you refer to under those semis' are Air Reserve
(Reservoirs-Yes?) Tanks.

Primary Function:Provide the volume of Air necessary on demand
to actuate the Air Brake System to stop that Behemoth of Manufactured Steel before ...aaaahh,well --- Yeah ,it stops the truck.

Only one difference...the air canisters are NOT at all as thick as the propane bottles (tanks) which is why the latter are so much more desireable as use for ...Yup...Barbecue Pits!

Hope this post goes out with no offense to anyone!

Best Regards, Tony

Ok You guys, heres the deal, I am still well on my way to cutting this tank with NO FEARS AT ALL! Although, things have been put on the back burner for the time being..... I have a 3 year old and 1 1/2 year old who are and always will be PRIORITY in all I do in life. As it seems to always work out, my WANTS are second to thier NEEDS. This Project Will be finished and you will all see the progress, I did get and am using my new computer, I still need to learn to post pics, so PLEASE be patient with me THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN, I SWEAR TO CHRIST... I feel terrible leading you all on this long but all the best things come in time. I hope to post video especially as I now have a new 19" monitor!!! If this counts for anything I did by a Brinkman Vertical Smoker, had one for many years and loved it and this seems to work for now. I love this site and will check in daily from here on out. I also have scored a 1/4" steel box 3'x3' square I intend on using for my fire box, things just seem to fall my way when I least expect them,..... It's coming soon, SMOKE ON MY BROTHERS!!!

I think Tony like a lot of us find it interesting that you have no fear of cutting a potential bomb. Your like some kind of a twisted BBQ sapper or something.

Well Roxy and Tony, I guess the difference between you and me is, Im a do'er and your a dreamer.... I have done the research and have no fears of trying NEW things... I wouldn't put my family or myself at jeopardy, so when this project gets started and the 1st cuts are made... the ball will be in your court. until then, if you have nothing positive to say, keep it to yourself, as my father would say... in so many words! I joined this site because of all the positive communication between all, in all the aspects of BBQ. It seems to me as I am being attacked because you ROXY seem to disagree with my line of thinking. I have a the greatest respect for you and all your post Roxy but... in my opinion , your last post here was uncalled for.

WHOOOOAA!
DownHome Smokin,Ths is WAY too deep for this Forum!
It was MY OWN posts that may have started this Mayhem and it is my sincere wish to end this TWICE as quickly.

In clarification,Roxy was responding to what He thought...in His Opinion...may or may not have been a safe avenue of excursion towards creating a Barbeque Cooker.

It seems things escalated quickly since then.

Perhaps we can put this to rest and get on with enjoying this fine Forum and Web Site.

Peace. Tony

P.S. Roxy: Roll with this,Man...talk to Ya'll soon!

DownHome Smokin:

I dont think I have every made any attack on you, if you feel that I have done this then that is entirely a misunderstanding on your part. I have tried to make light of a very dangerous undertaking, yeap but attack you, nope. I have had some fun in teasing you for wanting to do what you are planning, that is all. You are taking this way to personally.
By the way, incase you didnt know, a sapper is one of the bravest and also craziest people there are, who would want to defuse bombs for a living..?? They risk their lives doing something they are very well trained to do, as trained as you say you are as well.
Yes, I may not be as brave and strong as you are because I do shrink from the idea of cutting open an old gas canister, but even the best trained sappers get blown to dust from time to time.

Roxy, the problem with the tanks off of trucks or trailers is oil. Sometimes lots of it + de-iceing stuff (methanol in most cases). Propane tanks are about as clean as we can get for our projects, unless you can find heavy wall pipe. Then you have to weld in the ends, etc.

Meself, I have no problem with propane tanks, but, I am ME! Twisted Evil

Ok Roxy after taking a day to think this through heres what I've come up with... I have never claimed to be trained at anything, just done the research...I must admit I had no idea what a "sapper" was or is, and when the word Twisted is used in front of it, I'm sorry but I took offense...lastly when something is directed toward me, I tend to take it personally. I dont want cause trouble with anyone here and I apologize for any misunderstanding.

Downhome:

No need to apologize to me dude. I do hope everything works out the way you are planning and you end up with a smoker that exceeds your expectations.

All I hope is that you are careful because your family needs you in one piece more than they need a smoker... Right??

BBQ friends again I hope..

David
