I'm having difficulty getting sauce from our vendor. I love their sauce but I'm running a business and need something dependable.
Anybody have any recommendations for catering? I want something that we can't get here in the restaurant places. Something else besides the usual Cattleman's, Chris and Pitts etc.
I need to have it in gallons and be able to order by the case. I guess I'm looking for something good and unique.
Eventually I want to make our own but I got a big vending gig coming up and won't have time. _________________ Robert King

Find another vendor. Other than that I don't have any recommendations for finding another sauce. I make my own and have no idea what's on the market.
It sounds as though you're open to making your own sauce. That is my #1 suggestion. You can come up with a recipe on your home stove top using small, normal portions. When you get the taste you like all you have to do is multiply the recipe to gallon(s) size. Pretty easy to do.
If you want something unique but can only get your hands on the 'ol regulars (Cattleman's) why not mix a couple together? The Ctlmn's original and Ctlmn's yellow might be interesting...it would certainly be unique. _________________ Somewhere in Kenya...a village is missing their idiot. |

You might PM Patrick w/ Sa-Mokin here on the forum. His sauce is good and unique, he sells it in gallon jugs, and I'm sure he can probably sell it by the case.
...just a thought. _________________ Mike

| I like the sweet baby rays sauce and use on some of my pulled pork, it is available in gallon jugs and by the case. If you want a little heat you can add some hot pepper sauce to spice things up. |

Have you tried the "Cattlemans Gold" sauce? it is their attempt at a mustard sauce that is fairly decent IMO. I have yet to see it in the stores so that might work for you.
You could offer a decent commercial sauce that the public is not aware of yet. _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

Patrick's sauce is commercially available, both directly from him as well as from Hawgeyes(which is a really great place to check out rubs and sauces)... _________________ Klose 72" Mobile

Short of making my own (which I do) Patricks sauce is very good.
I also really enjoyed the sauce I got from Bluegrass BBQ, although I'm not sure on "by the gallon" availability.
The orginal Leroy Selmon's BBQ Sauce is also very good. Outback bought the chain of raunts, but I know the sauce is still available from his family.
I'll try to find the link..........................

I wondered why we have not seen you lately Jim.
So sorry to hear of your loss, that is just one of the hardest things one could ever have to go through. Losing a loved one is just devastating.
Wishing you and yours peace and blessings. _________________ BBQMAN

Not meaning to mis-direct this thread...
Jim, so sorry to learn of the loss of your mother. As Mike said, it is one of the hardest things to have to go through.
My condolences to you and your family. |

Thanks everybody for the ideas! I have been working on my own recipe I'm just not sure I will have time to tweak it or make large quantities onsite. Eventually we are going to bottle our own as I've been researching what it takes (a lot of work and time for sure).
I did try them out at my birthday party with about 60 people and it was well received. _________________ Robert King

Why would you have to make the sauce on site? _________________ Somewhere in Kenya...a village is missing their idiot. |
