| I'm hoping that someone can help, I'm in search of an old style round charcoal BBQ. It used to be sold in most hardware stores. It was 24" in diameter and had a round grill that would sit on a center pole so the grill would spin and the pole could be raised or lowered by a lever underneath. It had a tripod set up for legs. The one I had was called an "Old Smoky". They were very cheap and the pan for the coals was stamped out of rather thin steel.I had managed to keep mine for much longer than expected but now it is so badly rusted the legs are coming through the pan. I use mine to cook chicken with the skin on and when the fats starts flare ups I can spin the meat off the coals. I have searched in vain the last couple of years but have not seen one anywhere. The ones that they make now no longer have the grill spin on the center pole. I'm hoping that somewhere they still make them and would like to get one. I`d even be interested if someone has an old one that is still in good shape. If I can`t locate a replacement I`ll strip the parts off the one I have and build a new pan but I thought I would check here to see if someone knows whether they are still being made. Any help would be graetly appreciated. |

Fat Pinky, I am not sure this is it but it is the only cooker I have known that uses that name, I have owned a few of these.

Any way you get a picture of what you have now and post it here? I'm certain someone on the board will be able to ID it for you. _________________ Cranky Buzzard BBQ FB Group |

Suggest you get some sheet metal and fix yours! It's a great excuse to learn some metalworking. Old car guys fix rustouts all the time, easy money.

I saw a grill that fits that description at the local K Mart today. Flat bottom charcoal tray and a pop up center pole to lift your grate off the fire and no lid. This one was only 18,5 inches though. I haven't seen that style grill since the 60's prior to today.

Why not just buy a new Weber kettle?? You can still spin the rack if you want. Or, put the lid on to control flare ups. _________________ I fell into a smoking ring of fire........a ring of fire!!
