Check out this site for info on the burn ban relating to smokers
http://www.state.ok.us/~okag/redflag/BanGuidelines.pdf
page 3 states the following
Totally enclosed smokers are exempt from the ban. These include smokers where ashes and
embers are not exposed to blowing winds when the smoker is open. Partially enclosed smokers,
where the ashes and embers may be exposed to blowing winds when the unit is open, are
included in the ban. Once again, any fire resulting from the use of either type of smoker is still
an illegal fire.
So fire up your smokers and cook |

The problem with the ban, enforcement of it is left up to your local law enforcement. The police in my town told me their policy is ANY outdoor cooking that involves wood or charcoal is illegal. They also added that the can fine me and "impound" my cooking equipment if I am caught.
Fatty (my smoker) is way too nice to take a chance with. I would hate to have to visit her down at the police station.

Well I would think that your smoker would be under that ban...everytime you open it couldnt embers get out or something like that...
I think that they are basically making it alright for businesses to continue smoking by saying enclosed...like your smoker inside of a building. if your smoker was in your garage and you could seal it off from the outsde you might have something. |
