Greetings from Montana.
I am a BBQ nut, and want to learn more about the art of Smoking.
I plan on buying a mid sized BBQ/Smoker to learn on.
I have a Coffee roasting business, so I hope that will be of some help in learning this craft.
thanks in advance for tolerating newbie questions- I will try and read and search before asking.

Welcome aboard! I have a tip for you about the coffee and the BBQ. I like to add some fine ground (a very fine espresso grind) coffee to some of my beef rubs. I use it for the bitter component and I think the flavor does pair well with beef. Not that you can really taste the coffee individually, it marries with the beef and the other ingredients. Just thought I would toss that out there for ya! _________________ --Chris Baker

I send some coffee to a customer (from my day job) in Paducah, KY.
Starnes(Spelling?) in Paducah has some good BBQ. Different than I am used too.....but it was very good.

Hey Bigbo, welcome to the board. I am a newbie as well. Paducah is only about 20 minutes or so from here. They have a huge BBQ competition every year in September. Starnes has some good 'Q, but like you mentioned, there is just something about it that doesn't sit right w/me. Has a good taste, but it just ain't totally right. However, they have been doing it a long time and I only do it when I get a chance too.
Coffee in the rub? I never even thought about that, but now that I am thinking about it, I am going to have to try it. |
