We went to Pratt's BBQ in Kingsport, TN on Friday night. It was not great, but not horrible either. I got the "sampler".. that was not what it was called but it was 3 small sandwiches... 1 of pulled pork, 1 of what they SAID was beef brisket and 1 of their smoked chicken.
The beef brisket was debatable as it looked like pot roast. The smoked chicken was pretty good. The pulled pork was good as well... not the best I have eaten, but not the worst either. (worst was in Newnan, GA)
The BBQ Beans were delicious and the ingredients resembled my husband's chili. I tasted of the ribs Trey ordered and I wasn't really impressed with the ribs either.
The sauces.... there were about 2 that I liked but again not the best either.
Trey would probably say he liked the mustard based sauces, but I just HATE mustard based sauces. I am not a fan of mustard at all... unless it is honey mustard.
I thought the prices were steep for the quality. Several things that were supposed to be smoked... well you could not taste the smoked flavor at all IMO |

Randy, if you see this, I don't know how you feel about Pratt's.
I had the Tennessee Trio. Half portions of pulled pork, brisket, 3 bones of STL spares. Pork was okay, ribs were okay, and the brisket was like she said, pot roast; no ring, no bark, nothing to distinguish it from something granny makes in the crock pot.
BBQ beans were like chili, very tasty. 7 sauces. Memphis, Texas, Carolina Mustard, Kernersville, Tennessee Whiskey (VERY tasty ), Original, and another mustard base that they called house or something of the sort. I tasted all of them, but Carolina mustard, and the whiskey ones were my faves.
4 out of 10. When I'm an amateur and can make better q than a place that's been in business for several years, there's a problem. At least I know the difference between pot roast and brisket. _________________ "Never trust a skinny cook."

Mary had a little lamb, a little brisket, a little ribs, and boy she was full!!! |

Mission,
Sorry it took so long to respond. don't check this section very often.
I have eaten at Pratt's quite a few times. But have always had the pork and chicken. The chicken is always pulled, and some what soupie, and pork is some what diced.
I can't speak to thier ribs, never had them. But I have had thier beans and they are more like chilli. Not a fan of them. When I want chilli, I want chilli.
They try to do the gormet thing on everything, and it doesn't always work.
They call themselves a BBQ place, but they really are all about the catering.
