Well, I had a couple of burns in the new pit. All in all I really like the way it cooks. I am have a bit of trouble getting the last details wrapped up with Mr. Austin. We ordered the pit with a 2 inch brass ball drain that wasn't installed- not really a big deal but I did pay for it and haven't gotten it yet (called 10 days ago). Also I requested a "statement of origin" to be sent with the pit- that didn't happen. Mr. Austin did fax me one but the state won't accept that as proof that I own the thing. I can't get title to it for three years. I'm not sure what would happen if it was crushed by a tree. Would my insurance pay? Anyway, overall I love the way that thing cooks and I can't wait for so warm weather to have a party. I think I would be able to enjoy my new rig more if the "loose ends" were getting taken care of in a timley manner.

Insurance and title for your rig? I've never thought of such things. Do you have a receipt or bill of sale? Do many of you guys actually have insurance on your cookers?

Insurance comes in handy when you spend over $11k And title is needed in our state. Since we use it for business purposes our homeowners won't cover it. Allways cover your assets.

So you spent your 11K and now no response! Shocked

Wonder how quick the response would be if the check bounced? Wink

I carry a liabilty insurance policy on the business, but not my equipment. Not a bad idea I guess. Then again, it never leaves my sight and I have BIG dogs! Laughing

How did you pay? If you used a credit card you could conceivably use the threat of contesting the charges........that is a harsh step, but I have seen just the threat of it work.

Cashiers check. It's not that much money we are talking $50.00. It's the principle of the thing. I paid up front and I should get what I paid for. The statement thing, that we didn't know about until time to register. It comes down to customer service. He has a very good reputation so I'm not sure what is going on. If it were my business I'd want all my customers (within reason) to go away happy. I'm not asking for anything I didn't pay for up front. Overall I love the rig I just want to be done with this part of it.

What does the insurance cover, just for info? Is it for theft, crash, or what?

Our insurance covers commerical liability as well as theft or damage to our pit. If some yahoo runs a light and plows it I may be out more than just the pit. I might miss some gigs also.

Mike,

I am really sorry to hear of your problems with your cooker and getting everything the way you want it. Troy is a friend of mine and I know that he will do what is right for you as as far as I know, he sure doesn't want a customer that is not satisfied. I don't think he visits this forum but I will send him a note and maybe he can answer on the forum or at least get back with you on your problems.

I figured he was still sick. The state does not think Troy will keep title but without an original they won't certify I own it. I have to wait 3 years to get title to be sure someone else doesn't claim title to it. Not a great situation, but nobody knew that in advance. I love the pit it cooks great and is easy to run. I just want to wrap up the last loose ends. Don't get me wrong Troy makes a very nice rig but I do need the ball valve and we did talk about it a awhile back (about 2 weeks ago). Thanks for contacting him. By the way I did leave him a couple of voice mails. Tell him I hope he feels better soon.

I have an arsenal of weapons from hand guns to Bows and Blowguns. I usually wear a side arm whenever I am home and I rarely leave the property. My Lang is built like a tank so I don't think a tree could hurt it.
So, I don't need no stinking insurance.
(probably get stolen tonight after telling you that)
