hapyjak very nice looking pit, clean looking pit.
I saw your post on your pit when I was up in Shamokin PA.
staying with Boomer.
I have been looking here on the ring at different ways people
put propane burners in their pits.
If you have some time, could you post some pictures of how
you have your pipe burners hooked up to your tank.
What size regulator, (set our is it adjustable pressure).
In your box where you can hang meat, it the back of the box
I see something like a thermostat.
Is it just reading temp in the box our controlling your burners.
How many BTU do you think you are running at on your burners.
Is there any safety vale on your system (kind off like a hot water heater tank in a house ????.
Any input would help thank you

thanks for the compliments. this one is coming along. just now ready to tie everything together to the propane tank.
the front cabinet smoker ( 36"x 41"x60"), has low pressure cast iron burner contol by a thermocoupler, liken to a hot water heater. actually bought that setup from allied kenco sales out o houston. works well. can reach 350° on a warm day, but i smoke around 225° so it works well.
the middle section has six 30"x 3/4" pipe burners spaced evenly 9" below the 69" cooking grate with charcoal grates on top of the burners. the burners have two rows of 3/32 holes spaced 2" set 90° from each other. i added the 2" els along the bottom trying to get enough good air so i can close the lid, but still cant get enough air into the chamber may have to figure out how to force some air in or leave the door cracked. mainly they are just charcoal starters and they will grill with door open also. recently found someone who had made some burners similar with 1" pipe 3/32" holes spaced 3/8", might try that next. presently pushing 2-3 psi to those burners and controlling them with 1/4" needle valves. iwould guess those are around 30000 btu????
the rear section is fired with the offset fire box with two 60000 btu high pressure burners contoled with 1/4 needle valves. i push up to 20 psi to them but normaly run 8 - 12 psi.
Plan to tie everything together at the tank from a threeway manifold. One, starts with the lowpressure regulator going to the cabinet smoker. two, starts with a 0-10 psi regulator going to the pipe burner manifold. three, starts out with a 0-60 psi regulator going to the back which along that line i plan on adding a hot water source, two bean cookers and a griddle. of course there wil be shut off valves thoughout the plumbing so i can isolate each application.
i wil try to get some better pics of the pipe burners manana.
what are you building?
man it never ends. onward through the fog |

hapyjak thank you for your input on this.
I am making a burner for Boomer to fit on his pit,
in the summer time he can pull it off and it will double
as lets say turkey fryer/crab cooker.
The propane burners I make are for my forge, they are a lot
different than pipe burners.
Seeing what other people do on the ring always helps.
When you get it all hooked up please post pictures
(we like looking at pictures)
Thanks for your help
