Hello all,
I'm curious if anyone has seen a self contained plumbing setup with sinks, water heater, pump, cabinets etc. that can be rolled into a trailer?
Thanks in advance,

I'm thinking of going this route. One for the simplicity and ease of operation. And two, it's portable. _________________ James Stephens

Yeah I might show that pic to my fabricator, I know those sinks are like $139. on ebay and I think I'd rather have one that drawned into a "bluebuddy" and a freshwater inlet with a backflow preventer. I bet it could be built out of angle and bigger stronger wheels for a lot less then $1300. but that is a nice looking package..Jim _________________ www.ridgeviewbbq.com

I've been looking for an "on-demand" LP water heater for my own rig, and have not found one for under $370 (Bosh unit)....................That makes up a big portion of the price for that under $700 unit.
I thought the same thing Jim as I'm a do-it-yourself kinda guy.
If you have the know-how there is some savings going the build it yourself route.
Of course for a semi-mobile unit that fits the bill right out of the box. _________________ BBQMAN

Problem I have with it Mike is that the 3 compartment plus hand wash drives it up to over $1300. and its still plastic with small casters. 5" casters and build the frame out of angle iron would be beefy and cheaper. I have actually entertained thoughts of building something similar with a full sized restaurant sink for my new trailer so I would have the option of getting double duty from the sink when we us tents... Mike are you kidding?
Search ebay for "eccotemp". I won an auction last week on one of these. I will be picking it up at post office tomorrow and will let you know how it works. I paid $117. |

Sure keep us posted B!
Bosch builds good stuff, and there is no pilot light (or power requirement) involved.
Evidently they use hydro power to produce the spark.
One disadvatage is that it is a vented design. A 4" air intake is required. _________________ BBQMAN

Yeah, the trailer manufacturer building my trailer picked my Bosch unit up at Lowe's and if I recall correctly, I think it was over $800. _________________ Southern Smoke BBQ - BBQ caterers in Springfield MO

Almost have it hooked up ready to test. Ran out of light last night but I'll get back at it tomorrow afternoon. Fairly simple so far. Connected my water hose to the inlet. Connected the supplied "shower" head to the water output line. Connected the gas regulator line to my propane tank. Put two "D" batteries in the ignitor box. Now I just need to "hang" it for testing. I'll post some pictures too. |

Well I think we might have a good alternative. For $117 including shipping, this is what I now have to generate hot water. All I need is a propane source (CHECK!) and a water source (CHECK).
The three tear drops is a "view" into the flame.
From left to right:
Battery Pack - holds 2 "D" batteries for the igniter
Gas Line
Water Out - Comes with a shower head
Water In - Standard water hose connection.
To use:
1. Turn on water
2. Set gas regulator to minimum setting
3. Turn on gas
4. Flip switch on bottom to ON
5. Adjust water flow on from of unit.
6. Adjust gas regulator to control temp of water
Pretty damn simple. Now I just need to decide how and where I'm going to mount it. The instructions say it works with a 12V pump as well as the heat will not be on if there is no water detected.
Here are the specs of the unit:
L5 - Portable Tankless Unit
2 "D" cell battery ignition
1.4 gallons of hot water per minute
Adjustable water temperature from 80-150 degrees F
Adapter attaches to any standard garden house style nozzle
Shower nozzle with on/off control
Folding handles
Needs 20-80 PSI of water pressure
Minimum flow rate is approximately 1.3 liters per minute
Includes hot and regulator for attaching to standard LP tank
Up to 18 hours of use on a 20 pound tank
20 minute auto safety shut off timer |

Thanks for the pics B!
Venting requirements?
Most of us would be mounting in an enclosed sink cabinet.........................
I've found a few vent free design out there, but not many. _________________ BBQMAN

I've found a few vent free design out there, but not many. | It is meant to be used outdoors in an open area so. Why not just mount it on the outside of your trailer? |

Now it's MY turn to ask if YOUR kidding!?
I have a enclosed sink with a 5 gal electric water heater presently.
This would be a direct replacement, the benefits being hot water without the power draw on my gen set (The AC pulls a pretty good draw by itself).
Attaching/disattaching after every use just isn't gonna happen (for me).
The outside of the trailer is smooth a clean, and the extra width prevents a permanent mount (as aforementioned not gonna happen).
Your method will work fine for most comp guys and caterers with an open trailer. _________________ BBQMAN

All kidding aside- this is what I'm working with:
It also doesn't fit the original question of "mobile sink with hot water", but it is about the same sized cabinet that you would find on wheels to contain a mobile three hole sink with separate hand washing station.
If you guys come up with something economical, safe, and of good quality please let me know! _________________ BBQMAN

I'm not talking about connecting and disconnecting. Why can't it be mounted on the back area of your trailer and plumbed inside? Just mount it on the wall in your covered area. Plumb a gas line to it up the wall. Plumb a water source line to it up the wall. Plumb the water out from it down the wall and into your sink area. Basically just build a chase up to the heater.
I hear what you are saying because I am trying to do something similar. This method would have no electric needs. |

Good idea!
For the mobile version, it could obviously be mounted outside of the cabinet, leaving easier access to the plumbing, drains etc.
I used plastic 5 gallon Gerry cans (one fresh, one grey) for my smaller mobile sink- they would fit perfectly and still leave room for the pump and a small battery to run it. _________________ BBQMAN
