Just returned home from the welding shop (yes its late). Here are a few pictures. We had to let all the air out of the tires to lower the trailer enough where the roof would miss the smoke stack stub on the OHP.
I've decided I'm going to do something a little different now with this trailer. I'm going to add slide-outs like a motorhome has so I can get more useable space. It will be 16' long while driving but will open "out" to 20' long by 10-12' wide when finished. I will have a prep table in the rear with a cooler. Another prep table area up front with an area underneath to store 3-4 Cambro units. Another slide on the side opposite the cooker will have sinks and another area that will hold a 3-burner camp chef stove. |

Looking nice Brian!! Is any of the trailer going to be inclosed?
I see you have the OHP set right in the middle of the trailer and you plan to access it by standing on the trailer bed??
How heavy do you expect it to be when completed??....after adding the slide-outs? |

Sweet!
When my Stumps unit goes bye-bye sometime in the future, something like this as a second rig sure would be nice. _________________ BBQMAN

Just returned from my first gig with the roof on and my timing was great as it rained today! Eventually the sides will be enclosed going up 42" from the deck. I'm hoping to keep everything else open because it really is a head-turner!
The OHP is set in the middle of the trailer but offset to the left with 24" of room on the right to walk around to the rear. I have access via a step on the front right of the trailer.
The trailer can hold 5200 pounds. The OHP is 1850 and the steel right now is about 300 pounds so I've got about 3000 pounds to play with. My posts and roof frame are 2"x2" x 3/16". The roof cross members are 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" by 3/16". The roof is 16 gauge sheets of steel.
The slide outs will be 1" so they won't be as heavy. The first one to go on will be the one on the front of the unit. It will be 80" wide 30" deep and 30" high. It will be enclosed for protection. If I incorporate the existing 11" angle rail, my counters will be about 42" high. Given I'm 6'4, I'm not complaining. The first slide will have a sheet of stainless as a counter and then underneath is where I will store my Cambro units side-by-side. |
