I'm having a new mobile kitchen built for my vending business. I love to see pictures of other member's trailers on this forum, so I thought I would include pictures of mine for those of you who care to look. Instead of including pictures directly in the post, I've included a link to a photoset I have of them on Flickr. I will add more as the manufacturer sends them. It is supposed to be finished Friday, so I will include the final pics once I get back from picking it up. Enjoy!

Thanks Mike! I have a black 4-door F-250 also, so I wanted the trailer to be black to match. This company does the diamond plate along the sides on all of their trailers, which I thought would really pop on the black.

I started building mine last week and I wanted it to be more open than enclosed. The centerpiece is my Ole Hickory EL. I started looking at what others were doing and then decided to make some changes based on my methods. I started by having a heavy-duty equipment trailer built for me. The OHP is now mounted on leg extensions and the roof system is being welded tonight. It will be installed on Tuesday.

My trailer is going to be different that others as I am adding "slide-outs" similar to a motorhome. While it is 16' long while traveling, it will be more like 20' long when I'm parked.

I'll posted some pictures shortly. Which cooker is going in your trailer?

I have the EL-EC. I was originally going to have my trailer more open also. I wanted to have an open-air porch on the back with hangar-style doors that could be closed at night for security, but it was going to put me way over budget. I decided instead to go with the cheaper option of using an oversized concession awning that opens to show one side of the smoker.

Thanks! It is 8.5' x 26' with an 8' interior height. If you want to know the price PM me and I will tell you. I really don't like to put that kind of information out to the public. Hope you understand.

I finally got my trailer. I haven't uploaded the pictures to flickr yet, but those that are interested can see them here. The pictures of the inside were taken with my phone, so the quality leaves a little to be desired. I will add more later.

Now that is an impressive unit. Does your fire marshall require a hood w/supression for your fryer? Mine did. I know how you felt waiting for delivery, I "should" get mine third week of march. Good luck.

Thanks evo. I'm not sure if I will be required to get a supression system or not. I will find out when it gets inspected. I will be considered a temporary vendor, so a lot of the building codes that apply to normal "brick and mortar" restaurants won't apply to me. My understanding is that the only inspection I will need is one from the health department. I'm hoping to get by with just a fire extinguisher since the fryer is so small and it is the only equipment that would be in danger of catching fire.

Where did you order your trailer?

You're right that buildings and mobiles enjoy different codes. A friend built new hoods for a raunt whose existing hoods no longer satisfied code. He told me the old hoods were going to auction and that they would work for me. I now have an 8' SS hood w/suppression heads cost was $300. The fire protection co thats doing the suppression install "might " be able to use the old heads. System is $1600 and fan is $600. When I designed my floorplan I faxed a copy to the fire dept. as soon as they saw cooking oil was involved the hood was mandatory. I also took the drawing to the HD for approval, I installed a washroom that they were very happy about. Get this, to get a city business license I need HD approval, to get HD approval I need Fire dept approval. Around and around we go.
Oh yeah the trailer is 30' and being built by Continental Cargo in Indiana.

Great deal on that hood! A new one would have been quite expensive. I do have a hood with exhaust fan, just no supression system. I know what you are going through with the business license. My city is the same way. Be sure to let us see pictures of your rig when you get it.

Hover, beautiful trailer now WHERE IS IT? I've got to try some of your que. The wife and I thought about starting up a vending like yours but with the economy and all backed out. If you need someone to take it out for a test run I'm just up the road. Laughing Anytime, honest!! Since I'm on the FD in Springfield I called our fire marshall office and asked about suppression Fire Marshall Ben said he'd get back with me. Probably have a diffinitave answer this evening. Really nice rig!

Thanks JD! I am still getting stuff installed/fixed on the trailer so I'm not open yet. Once I am open I will post it on my blog on my website so check back there. I'm thinking the first part of next month. I think I am changing my location to the K-Mart on S Campbell also. I was originally going to be in the Skate Port parking lot on S Glenstone but the electricity was going to cost me about $3500 to get hooked up. I've had some unexpected expenses with the trailer, so I think I'm going to have to skip on the Skate Port location.

I really hope I don't have to have the supression system because they are expensive. I only have a 2' hood over one fryer, so I'm thinking a fire extinguisher should be fine. Let me know what he says.

Sorry it took so long, I finally heard back from FM Ben and he said he couldn't find anything in the code books about a suppression system. He did say to have a Type K fire extinguisher close to the fryer but easily accessable in case of fire. Think you can get those from any fire extinguisher supply place here in town. Not Lowes HD or Wally-world tho.
