I have always heard that the firebox should be at least 1/4 of the volume of the cooking chamber. You have 76,302 cubic inches of cooking chamber, so you would want at least 19,075.5 cubic inches of firebox, or 26.72" x 26.72" x 26.72" for a box shaped firebox or for a pipe shaped firebox you want a 36" pipe at least 18.75 inches long. That pipe firebox sounds kind of "stubby", so you may want to see if you can get a 30 inch pipe that is 27 inches long. If you have to change sizes to make things fit, go up.
But I am not a professional pit builder, so make sure you get another opinion. I'm basing this on the information I have gained from hearing this question asked before.
But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night if that means anything... _________________ --Chris Baker

Make sure the firebox is at least 24" long regardless of shape so you won't have trouble making your wood fit.
We all know what a pain that can be if your wood doesn't fit in the box. _________________ Mike

I would agree with the 24 inch minimum with one addition. Assuming that you are going to make a square box I would go to 26x26 and install a 24x24 insert liner on the inside. You say that you want to cook all year round and a big factor in the rain or cold is loosing your heat. The liner will solve some of that problem. _________________ https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaeloberry |

I bend the two ends at a 90 degree x 1 inch, and put 4 small steel bolts in place to hold the side from moving. Do this on 5 sides. Now you have a 1 inch liner in place. _________________ https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaeloberry |
