Just wondering,
Would the insulation blanket that is wrapped around commercial HVAC ducting be suitable for insulating the old refrigerator? It must tolerate a certain amount of heat, but I don't know if it's the same type of insulation used to insulate ovens and ranges.
What do you think?

Good question
Should be able to find an answer at dow's site or johns-manville manufacturers of spun fiberglass insulation materials. I would think the temperature range of fiberglass would be at least 1000dF. Now mineral wool insulation is much higher (KAO wool).
