Hi all,
I have been a reader of this forum for a couple years and have just now registered to make a post. I live near Lexington, KY and would like to purchase a decent smoker/grill combo for my patio. I am willing to spend up to $1,000. The style I really like is in the attached web address; however this guy is located in Kansas. Does anyone know of any manufacturers near (100 miles) Lexington?

Thanks and great site!!!

John I have the same decessions to make as you I'm up here in Cincinnati. I've been looking for a quailty smoker for about three months and no one around here that I can find makes any top notch custom unit around here to fit my needs.
I finally made up my mind to get a custom Gator Pit, when its done I may rent a pick up truck and go pick it up or they can have it shipped to my door. Checkout Gator Pit website They have the Traditional Pit with a 16"x 32" cooking chamber and has a 16"x 20" firebox all made with 1/4" new pipe and its made to last a life time it well worth the money, and if you want a little bigger The Backyard Classic is really nice with 2 level cooking grates, it has a 20"x 32" cooking chamber with a 20"x 20" round firebox all made with new 1/4" pipe. I picked The Party Gator it has a 20"x 40" cooking chamber with two full cooking grates, also the Gators have the lower charcoal grate so you can use them for grilling without using the firebox.
Checkout there smokers on there website and call Ritch with any questions about them, there customer service is the best I've seen anywhere I've had a great experence talking and dealing with them.

Looking at the design features of this smoker, I would be very interested in it. I'm sure they ship but the cost could be rather high. However, if they are not moving any, anything's negotiable. I'd check it out. _________________ Scooter

Shipping on The Party Gator from Houston,Texas to Cincinnati,Ohio will be $480 shipped to my door thats not to bad, if I rent a pickup truck for two day trip thats $140 plus $200 for gas and about $120 taxes on in state pick up purchases, (if shipped to me no tax charges) so about $460 to pick up so the shipping charge don't look bad. So on the KCK smoker he is looking at around $400 for shipping its not near as heavy as a Gator of the same size. Checkout the Gator Pits they are worth the extra money, heavier steel, 1"flang on all doors holds in the heat and smoke better, for better heat retention and less temperture variation and better air flow and temps stay up for longer burns and all Gator Pits are custom made to fit your exact needs and build after you order it, but I hear they are worth the wait! _________________ DarylCincy
