I understand Costco carries Original Charcoal Company lump. No Costco in Louisiana though, so I'm not a member.

In Texas, supposedly Costco will carry the OCC Rancher briquets again this year. Costco doesn't offer free 1 day passes like Sam's Club - we tried to visit a Costco in Hawaii on a scuba vacation and they told us pony up the full $50 membership fee, we don't care if there's no Costco in Louisiana, nor that our competitor Sam's Club offers free 1 day passes. Evil or Very Mad So we went to Safeway to spend our grocery $$$ - their loss.

It's almost enough temptation for me to get a membership while in Houston some time next summer, fill up the bed of my pickup with Rancher, then cancel my membership - their policy says they refund membership fee if you're dissatisfied for any reason.

I use Royal Oak briquettes...

main reason is my local market runs 9lbs bags for $1.99 on sale
many times during the year...

Don't use much in my big Bates pit, only to get it fired up, from there on
out, its burning wood...

But use the charcoal in my smaller back porch pit, which sees alot
of action... Laughing

Beertooth,

I'm going through a bout of insomnia, so I thought I'd look up other sources of charcoal in your area.

Ace Hardware shows a store in Moses lake, WA - Skaug Brothers Inc. You can order Frontier brand lump charcoal and briquets through the Ace web site with free ship to store.

Very cool necron. I'll give them a call on Friday and see what they normally carry. If they don't have any in stock I'll have them order some. I need to make some more moinkballs soon. I made some up for Christmas and everyone loved them.

Happy to help.

DoItBest hardware has picked up the Barbecue Wood Flavors / Texas Smoke line of products. I know you have cherry and apple wood readily available, but Texas Smoke has pecan chunks available in addition to hickory, mesquite, apple, and cherry if you hanker to try some pecan chunks.

Looks like their nearest store with 'free ship to store' is over 50 miles away from you though.
