Try and make it to Luling or Lockhart. That is where some of the best bbq in the state is. My favorite bbq places in Austin are Stubbs and the Rudy's on Hwy 183.
The Omni is nice and located close to 6th street. _________________ Kids call me paycheck, 'cause i'm so money.

| We ended up in Lockhart for New Years eve. Austin was one traffic jam. We got a hotel and went to dinner at Chisolm Trail BBQ, it was great. Buffet style line with plenty of sides to chose from. I was surprised to see how huge the take-out biz was. There was a steady line inside but the drive thru looked like Friday afternoon at BofA! To buy BBQ by the pound was interesting to us, after looking at the huge smokers behind the restraunt I could guess that they put out a lot of meat. My brisket was fork tender and Kath liked her pork ribs (the only pork served). Dinner was under $20 for us even though I super sized my brisket, but only tea to drink. I guess we crossed the "sweet tea" line somewhere as we do not get it in AZ. We enjoyed our visit to Texas. |

| Sam's for chicken and, umm, atmosphere. Artz Rib House is, hands down, the best dry ribs I have ever had in my life, and I do a LOT of traveling. Best anywhere. Didn't care for their sauce, though. Didn't need it anyway. |
