| Was wondering what everyone uses to pull their pork? Is there a tool out there that makes this a little more simple? If so can you please list? |

There are tools available, i think bear claws are the most common.
I prefer pulling with my fingers though, give amuch better finished product.

| I use 2 forks to shred them. Works well. I also like to get in there with my hands to feel for and remove any hunks of fat too. |

I use my hands as well but I am sure that if you had a lot of meat to do the bear claws would be the way to go. I have used them before and they are amazing when you got a cooker full of butts to pull. _________________ Chargriller Akorn

Put me in the two forks camp. But, I use serving forks instead of dinner forks. The pieces are a little bigger as a result.
Cheers,

That actually took me juuuust a second to get.
Anyway, I used bear claws for a little while, but have since went back to using my hands(with gloves). I just like the chunks I get compared to the shredded look.
On a side note the bear claws are GREAT for getting under butts and removing them from the smoker. |

I like my bear claws, but I think nothing beats just getting down and dirty with your hands. A nice pair of insulated gloves would be nice. _________________ Camp Chef Pro90 Stove w/ Griddle

There's this thread's post of the day!
I like the bear claws, as lantern said, they're great for food handling. I've gotten away from shredding and prefer to just use a chef's knife to chop the pork in bite-sized chunks.
I bought a pair of food handler's gloves, they were a step backward - really stiff and slippery.
Then I bought just a regular pair of lightly insulated PVC gloves at Lowes, and like these a lot. I got this tip here at the Ring, it was tinovr. They work great for me whether it's beef brisket, pork butt, poultry, or ribs I'm fiddling with.

tinovr's got some really wicked forks for shredding pork

If i just have one or two I use my hands, but if I cook a bunch I use bear claws, or some stainless steel cultivators that I picked up at Menards. _________________

I use a set of commercial tongs, when my butts are ready to come out of the stumps cooker they are already falling apart. I usually need to get a gloved hand underneath them or a set of turkey forks so they don't fall apart and hit the ground.
If I do them in the DPP, they tend to stay togethjer a bit better. I guess alot is to said about high-moisture cooking environments. _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

Fingers and forks. If I have large chunks of bark that won't break apart, I'll chop them up to toss them in with the rest. I do a max of two butts. They pull easily when cooked properly. _________________ WSM - added 2nd charcoal grill & brinkman charcoal pan as water pan.
