I should of signed up a long time ago.
I live in Iola, KS a little over an hour south west of Kansas City. I have a large home made smoker that looks a little redneck but does a good job. I enjoy cooking and learning all styles of BBQ so I don't have one favorite style.
This past year I have started cooking for people. I wouldn't call it catering but when people come to our annual family hog roast / party they enjoy the food enough I get phone calls asking if I can cook for other events through out the year.
My favorite wood to smoke with is ash because the bark falls off after it has seasoned for a while. It has a light wood flavor thats not over powering and still has a good smell to it.
I look forward to reading other threads. There is a wealth of knowledege on this site and I'm looking forward to learning new recipes and improving my bbq.
Steve
