I know this has probably been asked a million times but, I'm looking for a good whiskey based bbq sauce. I'm don't drink but have tasted some good whiskey based sauces. Bought a half pint of jim beam last night to try. Also my wife loves the honey chipotle sauce served at O'charleys, anyone know a good sauce that would compare?
thanks for any help. |

A buddy of mine from Virginia gave me this one using Jack Daniels, that is pretty good!
Ingredients
1/2 large onion, minced
4 garlic cloves, minced
3/4 cup Jack Daniels Whiskey
2 cups catsup
1/3 cup vinegar
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
3/4 cup molasses
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 tablespoon salt
1/4 cup tomato paste
2 tablespoons liquid smoke (or to taste, I used 1T)
1/3 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
Directions
Combine onion, garlic, and Jack Daniel's Whiskey in a 3-quart saucepan.
Saute' until onion and garlic are translucent, approximately 10 minutes. Remove from heat and light mixture; flame for 20 seconds.
Add all remaining ingredients.
Bring to a boil, then turn down to a medium simmer.
Simmer 20 minutes, stirring constantly.
Run sauce through a medium strainer to remove onion and garlic bits if you prefer a smoother sauce.
Cool and enjoy. _________________ Good Talkin' With You

| Also, if you have a favorite sauce it never hurts to try adding a bit of hooch to see if you get a flavor you're looking for. Your favorite whiskey sauce may be right under your nose. Just remember to add a little at a time to get what you're gunning for. Simmering the sauce makes a difference. |
