Looks really nice! I like it alot and seems like a great price. He tried to sell it before for $2000.00 but the auction ended way below the reserve! Better go down to "Shipping and handling" in his auction and see how much it will cost to have it shipped to your house! He is in Alabama so I plugged in my zip into his shipping calc and it was $420.00 to get it shipped to Florida. It looks real nice though! I would love to have one for sure!!! _________________ The Original - Triple Barrel Smoker

Yeah, I got $364 when I checked shipping to k.c. I was just wondering how sturdy it was. It says it's 5ft tall, 2 1/2ft wide, and weighs 300lbs.
Would any builders want to guesstimate on how thick of metal was used?

I'm not so sure that you really want something that thick on this insulated type of cooker. It certainly isn't necessary, and the thicker material doesn't help the cooking/smoking process any. Heck, 14 ga. is plenty sturdy. Just my opinion. _________________ _______________________________

On an insulated cooker you dont need thick steel. My stumps clone is all 14 ga. and I've used it in the rain when it was 35 degrees. The temp never even budged from 240, over an 12 hour cook. _________________

You can get a brand new Spicewine smoker for $1500 _________________ Electricity can be dangerous. My nephew tried to stick a penny into a plug. Whoever said a penny doesn't go far didn't see him shoot across that floor. I told him he was grounded. - Tim Allen |

The Meat Locker Smoker on ebay is quite a bit larger than the medium Spicewine which is $2500.00 The small $1500.00 model is alot smaller.
The Meat Locker Smoker has 4 slide out racks where the Spicewine has 3
I like all of the Spicewine stuff but I think this one has it beat! I really like the Stainless Diamond plate all over also! _________________ The Original - Triple Barrel Smoker

Two things about that Meat Locker that I don't like, based purely upon the pictures, is the water pan looks to be an aluminum disposable catering pan (it may just be a liner, though); second it looks like the wood/charcoal is on the floor of the firebox, not in an elevated pan/tray.
I may be way off on my observations, thats just the way it looks in the photos. _________________ Big Tom

| Tom, I think you're correct about the wood and charcoal. That's the first thing I noticed. |

I am lining up my order on my new smoker as well as a wood fired pizza oven. The products are coming from Aromatic Embers. http://www.aromaticembers.com/Pages/smokers.htm
Depending on the port close by, you can arrange for a fair freight. I have conversed with Craig several times and feel that he is really going to present me with a smoker and oven that will be a great addition to my catering and competition arsenol. It is a gravity feed smoker, but in comparison to stumps model I enjoy his craftmanship, features and definetly his price. He can make one any size and makes them to order. I am getting a five shelf model with 36 x 20 in shelves. I think I will save around 1000$ including freight. If you are interested in his smoker, oven or roaster box, you can get ahold of me and we can line up a delivery to your house. _________________ GET SAUCED AT TOP HOG BBQ

WOW!!
That cooker is an exact rip-off of the stumps GF series!!
$2.750.00 is that in USD or Euro's?
EDIT::
I am not seeing the diffuser plate above the heat outlet, I bet that thing is all over the place on temps with serious hotspots. _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down!

You have never seen this guy's Stump's knockoff and your enjoying the craftsmanship ? What features does it have that the Stumps doesn't? I guess this is one of the first available "commercially" built clones? Scratch the word clone, a clone is where a guy builds one for himself. A knockoff is when you copy someones design and sell it, and say that it is good or better than the original.
<edit> Harry has the correct word. RIPOFF _________________ _______________________________

No handle and only two small wheels? That thing has to be a pleasure to move around.

Jet_Deck-
It really does not bother me that his model is similar to the Stumps smoker- and hey there is a difference between a nock-off and rip-off. A rip off would not have 2in insulation, all laser cut joints, solar powered guru; powder coated exterior, 1/8in plate (double the Stumps).
The smoker that was being discussed looks just like a Backwoods, minus the nice doors, name and smoke stack. I shop at wal-mart and buy Great value product! Let’s talk about the other smokers out there that seem almost identical to the "original". What about the Lang "nock-offs” and the green egg nock-offs and what about the numerous offset cookers- who was the original?
The man is an excellent metal worker and I have seen a number of his builds- trailers, smokers, ovens, etc. I wanted his pizza oven and decided I am tired of staying up all night with my stick burner, so I am going to go with his unit.
Harry- The price shown on his site is AUS and I saw one of his on ebay for 1,850USD. He is making mine to order- it will have some additions that I think will be nice. A shelf for the guru to sit on and possibly a solar cell for added reassurance. I am going with an 8in 3/8 insulated coal chute and it will have two diffuser plates to hopefully suspend any chance of grease problems and more even heat dispursment. Well I sure hope that the temp will maintain- I am sure it will be better than my 15ft offset that I normally run.
Sorry guys if it disappoints you if I am getting a smoker from someone who may have snagged some ideas from Stump- with a two year daughter at home and another one due in March every little bit helps (unless you want to pay the difference for me ), plus I am always in the market for something a little different-even if it is the name. I enjoy the guys enthusiasm to provide me with something that fits my needs. _________________ GET SAUCED AT TOP HOG BBQ

I got yer back on this one Dave!
Yeah, I have great respect for all of those Stumps, Spicewine, Backwoods and all of the others they are great somkers but a few tweaks hear and there ain't gonna make up for the $1000.00 difference! There does appear to be space around the firepit at the bottom if you take another look at pic# 6 you can see the gap. It also seems that he has his charcoal and wood on the wrong levels, looks like the charcoal should be on the bottom and the wood on the grate above.
I don't think anybody really has the "I thought of it first" rights to a rectangular box smoker with fire in the bottom and smoke coming outa the top! You can call it a clone, rip-off or what ever but you are still gonna have an extra $1000.00 in your pocket when it's all said and done if you buy this one! I think it'a a great lookin smoker!!! So go an buy your Spicewine or whatever and enjoy your empty wallet! _________________ The Original - Triple Barrel Smoker

In this economy there may be more and more of us metalworkers out there willing to make smokers with smaller profit margins than the major smoker manufacturers. It never hurts to let us bid for your business. _________________ D. Tillery
