I hate to say it.... I love her to death.... but I think it's time I took her to the lot and traded her in for a new model! !haha
I have done everything I could to make her love the Q... but tonight I get the "it's alright... but i would only want it at most 3 times a year" schitck from her.
Keep in mind that everyone we know LOVES my ribs, pulled pork... and recently I've done a few chickens and roasts (sirloin and prime rib) just to try to find SOMETHING that will bring her onside....
So with all that said.... Any of you southern men and women who have a sister/daughter/neighbour/neice.... or wife of equal trade value.. Please send your offers..
I'm looking for something like this
But will likely settle for this

Well its like they say....
"Its cheaper to keep her"
Don`t feel bad my family gives me the same ole response......"Oh, BBQ again"
Partly why i started my catering business is to be able to cook for those who will appreciate it a little more. |

I can relate, I wanted to buy a real smoker but my family is sick of BBQ, I make it and take it to work just to feed my co-workers. I think the pics are funny The pictures remind me of going to a bar, after 5 or 6 drinks your 2nd pic starts to look like the 1st upgrade pic. If I only could |

I've been smoking something almost every weekend since my smoker was useable starting last Feb. Even before that we grilled at least once a week. Lately my oldest son has not been all that interested in anything from the smoker (except when I use it to make pizza). On the other hand my younger son and my wife love everything we try cooking with the smoker. I guess you just can't make everyone happy all of the time. _________________ Homemade offset smoker 24"x48"

Had that little battle here before. My answer is "then you go cook something" then. My wife is not much of a cook and when I say that I mean she is good at it but just doesn't do it that often. I am the cook in the house 99% of the time and usually only cook BBQ for us on the weekends.
Almost every week I get some complaint about "Oh BBQ again..." but then as soon as she has some she is asking for more and the leftover stews/chilis or pizzas that I make get demolished as well. Or I'll catch her grabbing leftovers i n the fridge at odd times and she acts all embarrassed that I caught her.
It's like she complains just for the sake of it even when I know she loves it. I can and do cook different styles of food 5 nights a week but Friday/Saturday nights unless we have other plans is my time with my smokers for dinner. She is a PITA in that way but I love her. Also I try to remind her every time she gripes about BBQ that she went out and bought me the first smoker so she got me hooked sort of. And yes, unfortunately it is "Cheaper to keep her"...

The only time my wife complains about having to eat BBQ is after a competition. We always have leftovers from the competition meats so we eat BBQ for lunch and dinner for the next week -- by the 5th day she is looking for just some tomato soup or something because she is sick of BBQ. _________________ Steve

My wife and kids love BBQ but resently my Ma in Law moved in with us.....and she hates BBQ so I have to cook something completely different for her. It's been one helluva ride so far, you just don't realize how much your lifestyle has to change when this happens. _________________ In GOD We Trust... GOD Bless AMERICA

I'll second that one. When I split from my ex I knew she was going to get half,..... but I didnt think her half was going to be that big. _________________ Traeger 124, 125 |

That's why they are usually referred to as "the better half". |

My wife also gets here dander up when I mention I am going to slow cook sumptin! Sadly it is part my fault due to poor time management. The last two cooks were done an hour late!. And like others have said, get the, "I don't know what the big deal is about this slow cooking and wood burning. Tastes all the same to me".
BTW...this is the same woman who cannot tell the difference between a watching TV (digital) and HDTV!!! _________________ Gary

Guess I'm a Lucky One
It took almost 2 years to 'convert' them, but, my Wife & Son support me & my habit
My poultry has been about perfected, along with pork loins & ribs.
Beef....well, even I prefer a rotisserie over the smoker.
Plus, she's still pretty cute for 44 _________________ This stuff ain't rocket science,,,Great Gramma cooked on a horizontal-partitioned wood smoker every day! |

| I too have been lucky. Both my wife and I like this BBQ thing. I have been doing the cooking , but she has picked what we are going to smoke. We have been mixing it up between butts, ribs and a brisket. Sun we are doing a turkey and I think some ribs. She's been wanting to smoke a turkey since I got the cooker in Aug. The kids like it aswell. As do thier friends. |

My wifes big complaint of slow cooking is the mess I make. I mean it starts clean, but 12- 15 beers into a 10 hour smoke and things get a lil sloppy

My wife says I have an "obsession." I tell her it's not an obsession, it's a passion. For all you outdoorsmen out there, I kinda borrowed that, but it's okay. When I fixed ribs for July 4th, my MIL said I needed to cook them a little llonger because of the pink ring around the meat, said it wasn't cooked all the way through. I just kinda brushed it off and said that was supposed to be there. _________________ "Never trust a skinny cook."
