Our Wednesday market re-opened today after being closed for the past 1 1/2 years.
It was slooooooow going- something that I expected.
I cleared expenses and money to pay my help, but no dinner or even beer money for the BBQMAN!
Of course with tax time approaching, the write off never hurts I guess!
I don't have pics, so I guess it never happened. Of course if it really hadn't happened I would not have been disappointed! _________________ BBQMAN

Sounds better than it could have been after not being there for a year and a half.....and at least it didnt COST anything, but you didnt MAKE any either. _________________ Electricity can be dangerous. Nope.....You KNOW how it is Mike!! No pictures, no happen.
Hang in there, I am sure it will only get better from here..
Might be a good idea to make up a "menu flyer" for items you carry at the market and pass them around to businesses in the area of the market....Maybe hand them out the DAY BEFORE the market so you are still fresh in their minds. |

Thanks guys!
It's pretty much like any new location, people need to know you are there.
As far as the pics, someone did take a picture of the mayor eating lunch with us, and I hope they e-mail me a copy. He came down and played some tunes on his guitar and sang along with our musician friend Sam Stone. Pretty cool I thought for a big town mayor.
One thing that I forgot to mention on the food: for a small event there was just too much (as usual) for a start-up market.
Three of us selling hot-dogs, two us us selling pulled pork sammies.
Either this event will catch on, or it will once again be nice to be on wheels! _________________ BBQMAN

If your pending roadside deal works out will you do the Wednesday market as a doouble booking one at the vend one at the market or would you drop the market if you're already doing 5 days on the vend? _________________ Here's a change Robert.

Good question!
The roadside deal would be Tue-Thurs, with the possibility of Friday's after our busy catering season comes to a close in June.
I would then still do the Saturday market, and drop the Wed market.
I don't see the Wed market being a blockbuster for us under the best of conditions, so it's an expendable day.
I can't justify paying 2 more helpers (one for the market, one for the roadside in addition to Michael and myself) to continue on with the Wed market.
Not to mention the extra work involved on my end.
I'd find a way to do both IF it was profitable..................... _________________ BBQMAN
