Try your local bakery, or other large food manufacturer.
If you can get food grade drums that had a plastic removable liner, then you don't even have to take off the shellac that was sprayed on the inside.
Large hotels may have drums used for food grade oils, or there may even be a drum producer near you, check your yellow pages, then phone everyone you can think of!
Good luck, and let us know if you find a supply. _________________ Here's a change Robert.

Northern tool sells them clean and unused. So do a few other industrial supply houses that are open to the public _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

| Find a local brewing supply store. They usually get bulk malt in them and will sell them for super cheap. I made a wood burner out of one for my neighbors garage. Worked well. |

| well i found some barrels. they had the powder that goes in energy drinks in them in plastic bags. so nothing has ever touched the metal. do i still need to burn out the inside. or can i just build it, season it, and cook on it. |

Best if it doesn't have a liner for sure.
Energy drink powder huh? That will be some KICKIN CHICKIN for sure!
Regardless of what was in it I would burn it out. After you make the pit of choice from it just make a HOT fire and let her burn for a bit. Then get in there and scrub it down with some virgin steel wool and then season as usual.
If it has a liner your burn out may be a bit more complicated. For that I would cut out what ai could and then weed burrner it for a good while before proceeding. I'm sure others will chime in soon.

well i got the usd done and lit it up last night. at 8:00 it was 240 and when i went to bed at 11:30 it was still 240 when i looked at it this morning at 9:30 it was 125. that was all off of about 4-5 pounds of kingsford briquetts. i am in love with it. i have also renamed it to a dac (dumb a$$ cooker) its so easy even a DA can use it and build it. |
