Ok, so the the midwest will see rain all day today, but having pulled a pork shoulder from the freezer Thursday with plans to cook Saturday, there's no backing out now......So I broke out the rain gear.......

Here's the radar showing the weather conditions..... Shocked

Edit: For those tuning in late, here's a snapshot of the weather at the time of the original post

And the rain gear:

This time I've wrapped the RemoteChek in plastic wrap at the smoker, and the remote sensor is in a ziplock bag on the deck rail near the back door, so I just need to peak out the door to check on things.

Needless to say setting up the smoker takes much longer when it's constantly raining outside! Rolling Eyes

Making pulled pork (hopefully......roughly an 8 pounder, so I'm hoping I can get sufficient cook time on it for dinner tonight. I guess this is hard core, eh?

Happy smoking people!

Rain might make me hesitant to fire up the grill, but the smoker? We have no issues with the smoker.

We're practically neighbors. I'm in Lisle. My sons, who will be joining us for the Q, live in Bolingbrook and Aurora.

The rain is now falling pretty hard and the wind has picked up. Smoker temp has dropped about 30 degrees and is now around 225. Meat temp is around 163. Hopefully it will survive this....

18 butts. Nice work.

The status here: That particular heavy downpour passed, but light rain persists. Smoker now holding at 255 and butt temp at 176.

Looks like we're in the home stretch now.

Almost there. My big test will come tomorrow at work. We are predicted with 100% during the day and 50% at night. We are cooking spares, ABTs and Alien's mac-n-cheese. I might treat them to a fatty not sure yet. Heck anybody can smoke good food in perfect weather, right?

Supposed to rain right through Wednesday. Regardless since I'm working 12 hours each day this weekend, Monday and Tuesday become cook days.

Don't forget the money shots when the food is done. Looking forward to the finsihed product.

Sorry to hear about that work thing, but man did I enjoy this. Made this last week for a group of 20+ people and I never even got to taste a sandwich, so it tasted REAL GOOD this time.

As bad as not getting to taste your own Q is, it still remains satisfying to see so many happy people. At least in my opinion.

Very true. I think I'm going to retire for the evening. Don't work too hard.
