I was on my way back to Pensacola from New Orleans today. I had to stop for gas and it just happened to be in Ocean Springs, Ms. I was filling the car up and looking across the street and noticed there was a BBQ joint over there. It was called "The Shed BBQ". Then I remembered it being on an episode of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" a couple of weeks ago so I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to have a bite to eat. The atmosphere was great and the beer was cold, but I have to say the BBQ was just average. The brisket sandwich I had didn't seem to have very much smoke and the texture was as if it had been steamed in foil too long. I steam brisket also, but only after it has been smoked for about 8 or 9 hours. On the website, theshedbbq.com, he is franchising. It seems that when ever a Q joint franchises, the quality that was originally there in the beginning goes to pot. It tasted to me like that had already happened. Has anyone else eaten at "The Shed"? What did you think? _________________ Lang Model 84D

I've seen the Shed on 2 or three TV shows. We have a friend who lives in Ocean Springs so we ate there during the last visit. Unfortunately it's 'bout average. It's edible but nothing special. Sure wish the folks who screen restaurants for the cable networks had a clue what good food really is. _________________ Joe |
