Hello All,
I've been reading about different smokers and builders of smokers and I need a little help. Have many of you heard of YODER Smokers from Kansas? If so what do you think of them? I have read many good things about Klose. Klose has more models to choose from, Yoder has a few nice models also. Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Scott |

Of those two I would say Klose. I had one and sold it for the same price I bought it.
But, there are other quality pit makers. Your location usually determins which has the most value. So, where're ya located? |

I'm in NJ, it seems that most builders are from the southwest and that there will be a heafty delivery charge.

Well, Meadow Creek BBQ is in PA. That's as close as I can get from my initial search. I don't have any experience with them or their smokers.
Their BBQ series looks like some MEAN chicken cookers though! |

David Klose builds a very fine pit. Top notch workmanship, good re-sale value (why you would ever sell it would be a mystery to me!) etc. etc.
Take a real good look at what Lonestar has to offer as well. Great pits in the same general price range, and you get more bang for your buck.
Shipping ANYTHING these days is pricey! _________________ BBQMAN

Bob Barnett is a dealer for us in Atlanta and listed on our website. He runs up to New York all the time and I think his fee is real reasonable. Give him a call. _________________ SMOKERS THAT WORK!!!

Of course, eveyone has figured out that I am a BIG Backwoods Smoker fan, but given the two, I would prolly go with the Klose. _________________ Backwoods Smoker - Upgraded Chubby

I own a Yoder "Wichita" and It is a very, very easy to maintain 250 or 275 deg while cookin some Butts or Ribs. I pre-heat it to 300 then throw on the meat cause thats what Joe (of Yoder Smokers) recommended. It is made for longevity since it's made of 1/4" steel all the way around. I have the counter balanced lid and the upper rack version and it put the weight of the smoker at around 600 lbs. Here are the pics of the maiden voyage. I used Cowboy Lump and Mulberry for the smoke. Needless to say, I made the wife and the neighbors very happy with the sammiches. I was an electric Brinkman and terra cotta smoker till the wife gave me a green light to buy the Yoder and it produced so much better results than the electric one I used in the past. So far it's been the best thing to me since sliced bread. I was also informed from Joe that he was one of the founding members of the original Oklahoma Joe and then moved on to build his own. After seeing the quality of all his different smokers I bought mine the next day since I left my trailer at home. I also have to give kudos to Roxies Mustard Sauce... delicious!

Thanks for the encouragement James. This is a very different world from electric smoking and has been nothing but fun since I got it.
