I slow cooked my last oven butt this weekend, my wife brought me home a Brinkmann vertical square from Home Depot (two doors) I've had it 2 days and its warranty is void. I really don't like charcoal (no offense to those who do, its just too much work) so I pulled out the Turkey fryer I haven't used since we got married ($60 in oil for a $30 dollar turkey once or twice a year, she wasn't biting) and the burner from the fryer got an inspection and a new lease on life. I drilled some holes and now I have a propane smoker, its still needs a little tinkering, but its pretty much there. I added a cast Iron skillet that I picked up for $0.25 at a yard sale as a wood chip pan and its Smokin!!

this is where the hookup is now,

to be fair I when I thought of this, this person had already done it, which encouraged my attempt to save more than a few bucks.

if your doors don't stay closed, try bending the bottom of the tab just below the middle about 2 degrees, this doesn't effect the way it closes, but it does give it a lip for the spring to ull to a stop on, a picture of how I did mine

PS, NO, I didn't fire it up in the house, just one of those, its 3am I can't sleep so I'll tinker in the living room kinda thing.

thanks for the hello, I seasoned it yesterday evening for about 5 hours, and the 15 psi regulator that came with the burner was too big, I had borrowed a 0-30 psi adjustable reg because I had wondered as much and its much easier to keep the temps in the 200-230 range so I will have to get my hands on one permanently for my Brinkmann!
