I have a bunch of left over, random lengths of unfinished, kiln dried hickory flooring. Any reason why I can't use it with lump charcoal for flavor/smoke?

Just make sure it hasn't been treated with anything.

It is kiln dried, and surely treated with something that may be bad.

Burning it to charcaol first would make me more comfortable,, You just don;t know what may have been done to it from the felling of the tree to being boxed as flooring.

I've used the hickory flooring and was a little skepical at first but the flooring guy was going to throw out a whole bunch of it and I didn't want to be left wondering so I cautiously tried it and have seen no problems I would say try it you got nothing to loose.

But just to make sure I'll wait to use it when the in-laws are coming over for dinner.Ha HA!
THanks for your recomendations.

Don't call the installers...they swing hammers...they didn't mill the boards.

Call the manufacturer of the flooring.

If they say it's ok, then you have some good wood there.
